Hunger Games Assesment

I made a propaganda poster from the Capitol, showing that the 12 Districts all live very happily, because the district is on a smiley face. They also show 'unity', because they are all holding hands, and they look alike. The capitol is in the middle, to show their power, and under the drawing, it says '12 Happy Districts, and Capitol for Even Brighter Future'.

Luttrell Psalter

Luttrell Psalter is an Old Testament book of the Bible. Luttrell comes from the main character of this writing, Geoffrey Luttrell, who was the owner of the land at Irnham, and he also owned estates in England. Psalter means a volume of a Bible, made with over 150 ancient songs grouped together to make an Old Testament of the Bible. The Luttrell Psalter is a primary source, because the author, or the painter drew the Luttrell Psalter at the time when it was actually happening. What makes the Luttrell Psalter so unique is that usually medieval psalters include images of King David or biblical stories. But the Luttrell Psalter includes images of lives of the poor people, the peasants, and also in great details.

Profile 'L'

My learning profile is an L. I learn best when I'm not under stress, and when nothing is distracting, such as taping sounds or the sounds of someone closing/opening the door. I learn best when I sit on the left side of the class where I can listen and hear with my dominant eye and ear which is the right side. I also learn best when I move around, which mean I can't learn when when I'm sitting still. I'm a Gestalt Learner, which means I tend to see the big picture first instead of small details. The strategies that will help me learn is to learn something by doing things, instead of just sitting down in a chair and listening to the teacher teaching us by words. Also, if I'm sitting on the left side of the class, that will help me, too. I would like the teachers to know this about me, because if they know my profile, they will let me sit on the right side of the class, and they won't always stop me if I'm fidgeting and moving around, they'll know that I learn best when I'm fidgeting and moving.

Analyzing Visual Images

The picture is black & white, and the family is obviously the main focus. The people look very happy, healthy and perfect. It has a caption that says 'Healthy parents Have Healthy Children'. I think the creator is aiming the parents to vote for a certain party in an election and wants to say that if you vote for them, the people will have healthy children, a happy and perfect family. Because German people weren't in a good shape because of the treaty of versailles, this kind of poster will make people think that they could be healthy and happy like the family in the picture, too. It's definitely a propaganda, because it's trying to give positive, but not true image to other people to cause influence on them.

PROPAGANDA

Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda)
I think the Nazis and Hitler used Propaganda to appeal to the people more. They used it to make people think that the Nazis were the best party, and a more promising party. They also made it so that they would have more peaceful image. The second reason is to make people agree with their thoughts, such as, 'the Jews are the ones who should be blamed'. The Nazis made poster showing that the Jews are the bad ones, and that they should get the Jews out of their community.

Gerda Munchen Social Democratic Party

Gerda Munchen is a woman who runs a small grocery store, and she has saved her savings in her bank account, to use it when her daughter goes to the university. Before the daughter left for university, the bank said to her family that the savings were worthless. Also, because many people were out of jobs, the sales went down by a huge amount, and Munchen's store had is having a hard time competing the large chain stores.

For her, I think she would pick the Social Democratic Party. The reason is, the sales went down because many people lost their job, but the SDP would provide more jobs so that many people would have jobs again. Then the sales would increase also. SDP states that they will lower the taxes, so that might help Munchen's family financially. The SDP paying Munchen after she retires is an advantage for Munchen also.

Anger and Humiliation | Voices in the Dark

Anger and Humiliation
7. The state insures that every citizen live decently and earn his livelihood. If it is impossible to provide food for the whole population, then aliens must be expelled.

This point is extremely unfair. The country will kick out the non-Germans out of the country if it is impossible to provide food for all the people. It is unfair, because The non-Germans are getting kicked out of the country even if they did nothing against the country.

8. No further immigration of non-Germans. Any non-German who entered Germany after August 2, 1914, shall leave immediately.

In my opinion, this point is the most unfair of all. They are not letting any non-Germans. This is unfair because then non-Germans are not allowed to be in Germany, and the people who entered Germany after August 2, 1914, has to leave to their home country again, even if they are innocent.

Voices in the Dark

If I was on that train, I would have just kept quiet, because even if I do hear the person saying bad things about my race or nationality, I don't want to make a more mess that I could die for it. I wouldn't risk dying.
